You need to have a systematic selection process to guide the selections you make. You will find a lot of “scams” online, so you need to be very cautious. You should check the backgrounds of the vendors and they should have top quality customer service departments that will give you a full money back guarantee.

After reading the above paragraph, do you want to do all that research? Well you really should to be sure that you are getting your moneys worth or even “scammed” out of your money completely if there is not a money back guarantee that the vendor actually honors.

Here are 5 Guidelines to use to determine which product or service you should purchase.

1. Review the whole page of the offer and then search comparable products for price differences. Decide if it’s a fair market value. Most products or services are competitively priced but there are still many online that are over-priced for the marketplace.

2. Check the backgrounds of the Company with the Better Business Bureau and see if they are an ethical business. You would be taking a risk if they are not even mentioned in the Better Business Bureau. This usally means they are a new company or one of those companies that keep changing their name but offer the same products or service.

3. Evaluate what the current trends are and what is in demand in the market. New products are coming online daily and it’s imperative to keep up with the current trends or what is “new” online. Computer products are a great example of this.

4. Evaluate the competition and determine if the quality of the product is more important to you than cost. If so, established name brands may be worth the extra price.

5. The most important part is to check the guarantee. If the company is backed-up by a larger company you will have double the guarantee. For instance, if you purchase a product from ClickBank, you will get a 60 day money back guarantee from ClickBank even if no guarantee is stated for the product on their webiste. Some companies require money back guarantee but don’t think they all do. I was ripped off for a product I bought through PayPal who does not require the vendor give a money back guarantee . It must be stated by the vendor on their website and you have to take your chances to deal directly with the vendor.

The vendor I got scammed with was selling a product called “Keyword ESP”. I hope you don’t fall for it like I did. That vendor says he has the best customer service but he ignores my emails and will not help to correct the problem with his software. As you can tell, I don’t recommend this product - in fact you can contact me and I can give you what I purchased for free because it doesn’t work!

So you see how important it is to research the background history of the affiliates who sell you their products. Unfortunately, not everyone has the same ethics you have and they don’t care who they hurt. A little research will protect you and you will be a happy customer.

These few bad apples give us good guys a harder time to convince people of our honesty. Thankfully, there are more good guys than bad guys. The jerk I got scammed from was the ONLY bad apple I’ve found online.

9 Newbie’s Starting Online Business No No’s

1. FORUM OVERLOAD: Internet Marketing Forums are good when you don’t overuse them. Newbies find can easily get carried away and spend too much time in Forums. Make it a point to only spend an hour a day (at the most).

2. EMAIL OVERLOAD: Successful Internet Marketers will have very good information to email you BUT emails distract you! Set-up email for only one or two IM’s. Save their emails and read them later to learn how they market to others, how they put bonus’s together, etc. This information is important but you can waste time reading and responding to emails.

3. FOCUS ON A NICHE: Newbies hesitate and do not pick their niche fast enough. You do have to research to see if the niche you chose is marketable. 4. NO OPT-IN LIST: Newbies need to realize that building your own list is where your business lives. One of the first things you need to do when setting up your online business, is to get an auto-responder. There are good ones out there, Aweber or Get Response are what I recommend. The basic format of your Opt-in Form should give your members something free to get email address. The most commonly “free” gift is a ebook relating to your niche.

5. I CAN DO IT MYSELF: Thinking you can figure out how internet marketing works on your own is foolhardy. There are some “free” ebooks out there, but you know the saying “you get what you pay for”. You need to join a membership or purchase a good instructional series by a well know internet marketer. I have found three that I can recommend. You can find these reviewed on Work Online Business Reviews Whatever you decide, you need to learn from someone who has been online for years and has the scars to show for it. These two internet marketers that I recommend you check out, are well know internet gurus and very trustworthy. They over-deliver resources to you AND they have Forums where you can get help and answers to your inquiries 24/7. Not buying anything. Thinking you can figure it out on your own. Invest in knowledge and follow those who are successful.

6. BUYING EVERTHING: That’s why I recommend you create a folder and “save” the emails that you are involved with. By reading and responding to every email you may be tempted to spend a lot of money on their products - this too is a distraction. Most internet marketers can say that we’re all guilty of this (me included), but you must stay focused on your own niche. And if you have joined a membership as I recommended above, you will be too busy learning a DOING what is shown. Keeping up with their step-by-step videos will keep you very busy and you will be learning EVERYTHING you need to know to start your online business.

7. DON’T HAVE A CLEAR GOAL: If this is you, STOP and turn off the TV, phone, and all other distractions while you think of what you really want to do. Do you have the necessary drive and dedication it takes to stick with starting an online business? Only you have that answer.

8. SET UNREALIST GOALS: Do not expect to make a million dollars in 6 months like you hear from these “get rich quick” scams. When you set yourself an unrealistic goal, you only hurt yourself. You will wind up feeling disappointed and start doubting yourself. Too many newbie online business owners quit because they get discouraged. Realize that this can take a few years before you’re in the big figures. That’s what I really like about membership websites and why I recommend these for everyone, newbie to advanced online internet marketers.

9. NOT A PEOPLE PERSON: If you are not a people person, this business is not for you. Work Online Businesses are all about PEOPLE. It’s not about technology. It’s about helping people. Keep your mindset on this. Have the best of intentions for your business that is based on helping others, teaching others, and being honest with others. Honesty in online business is #1 - if you are not or try to fool people, they will find you out and your business will suffer. We all can tell what a scam is - if it’s too good to be true, it usually is.

Give Reply of Email As soon as Possible

More and more people contact each other through email. Even if they mention directly or not, they expect prompt responses. One of the study by Jupiter Research indicates that 35% of customers expect a reply within six hours, an additional 55% expect a response within 24 hours. Though many people focus on response time, content is just as important. The same study indicated that lack of a thorough response (45%) will cause on-line customers to view a company negatively when considering future purchases.

Learn the art of writing Email

Poorly crafted emails will generate additional emails back & forth, which potentially eating up more of your time. Worse, they can drive unnecessary calls to your most costly channel – your phone. And at that point, customers are bound to be angry and frustrated.

Here are some tips for writing email responses that are both thorough and appropriate:

1.  Format your response so that it’s easy to read on a screen. Do not write email using very long sentences, which are lengthy horizontally. Each line must be short. Ideally, write 5-6 words in each line only and not more than that.

2.  Make sure the subject line is concise and meaningful to the recipient…not just a generic “Response from Marketing Team” But also be careful that it doesn’t look like spam.

3.  Have one subject per paragraph. Mention this separately by blank lines, so that its easy to read and understand.

4.  Be brief. Use as few words as possible to convey your message. More is not better when
it comes to email. An email is not perceived as an electronic letter.

5. Use simple, declarative sentences. Write for a third or fourth grade audience, particularly if you’re creating templates that are sent automatically. You do not know the education level of your sender or the sender’s level of comfort with the English language.

6. Be sensitive to the tone of the original email. If the sender is upset because of an error on your part, acknowledge the error. Clearly state what you are doing to correct the situation.

7. Make sure you answer all the questions posed in the original inquiry. A partial answer frustrates the sender and results in additional contacts. It also makes the company sending the response look inept.

8. Make it clear what actions you will be taking next and when the writer can expect the next contact from you.

9. Don’t ask for an order number/case number or any old information which you remember out of your mind only when one is included in the original email…sounds pretty basic, but sometimes people miss very obvious info in email.

10. Don’t  just tell the sender to go to your web site. In many cases, they have already been to the web site and couldn’t find the answers they were looking for. If you want them to go back to the web site, provide a direct link to the exact information the reader needs.
